Soundproofing a Car with MLV

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

While it may not at first seem possible, you can actually use mass loaded vinyl and similar materials to soundproof your car. The problem is that you may not get the full soundproofing effect like you would in your home.

Even still, this video is living proof that mass loaded vinyl can be used to decrease the noise coming from a car – great news for teens who can’t control their volume impulses!

Soundproofing a Vehicle Door

Friday, April 16th, 2010

While browsing the web we came across an interesting. A WJ lover was looking to soundproof a single door because someone had removed the original soundproofing.

Soundproofing a vehicle door is easy. Remove the top panel (the part you see), layer the inside with mass loaded vinyl, and close the door back up. You’ll find the mass loaded vinyl blocks sound and the interior will become significantly quieter almost immediately!

The New Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

If you’ve ever dreamt of owning a luxyr car, you can keep on dreaming. The Porsche is probably one of my favorite “dreams” but I somehow doubt I’ll ever be able to afford that monthly payment.

It’s nice to look, though, and if you’re able to consider a car like this you should. The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS isn’t designed to be pretty (though it is) – it’s designed to be fast.

The computer systems are immaculate but the ammenities? Not so much. You don’t get a radio or air conditioner unless you request them and – sadly – there is no soundproofing at all. It’s a strange little car but, hey, people want to drive it!
